If cut quality and longer wear are important to you, make sure your blades have the Grasshopper® name or logo!
*WHY USING GRASSHOPPER® OEM BLADES IS SO IMPORTANT: Grasshopper's GrassMax™ Blades are the only blades manufactured to Grasshopper's
high standards of consistency and performance. GrassMax™ blades have proven to last twice as long
along cutting edge in field tests compared to aftermarket blades claiming to be exact replacements. A precise molecular structure and higher Rockwell hardness
is the backbone of a blade series that ensures superior cut quality, long life, minimal grass buildup and
optimum airflow for side or rear discharge, mulching or collection. GrassMax™ blades are through-hardened to stay sharp longer
(and survives more sharpening) than the lesser case-only hardening found in throw-away aftermarket blades.
MORE INFO: the Rockwell scale is a hardness scale based on the indentation hardness of a material. Indentation hardness tests are
used to determine the resistance of a material to deformation. Several such tests exist, wherein the examined material is indented until an impression is formed; these
tests can be performed on a macroscopic or microscopic scale.
GRASSHOPPER BLADE VARIETY INFORMATION:
HI-LIFT NOTCHED: Recommended for most normal side-discharge applications, from moist grass conditions of early spring to final mowing in the fall. NOT recommended for mulching or vacuum applications.
EXTREME HI-LIFT NOTCHED: Recommended for side-discharge applications in very lush or overgrown conditions. For use with liquid cooled models or air cooled models greater than 23 HP. NOT recommended for mulching or vacuum applications and should never be used in dusty sandy conditions.
MEDIUM LIFT: Required with certain mulching packages - use with any mulching package that originally included Medium Lift blades. SATISFACTORY use with many side-discharge applications, including dry, sandy conditions.
CONTOUR: The blade of choice for the highest quality cut in side-discharge mode in ideal conditions where the "one-third" rule is followed. PREFERRED when mowing over dry, sandy soils. In high-profile areas that are mowed on a regular basis, Contour blades will leave the most manicured cut. NOT recommended in lush, moist high volume conditions.
HI-LO MULCHING: Designed for use with all mulching packages beginning with serial number 5700000 & above. Use Medium Lift blades if they were provided with your original mulching package.
